Description

The Crispin Public House is a hall house that has been converted into a public house. It dates back to the early 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century and mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame that is encased in brick, although some of the original frame is visible on the north gable. It has an old tile gabled roof and consists of three framed bays with rear extensions. The structure is two storeys tall and includes a cellar. A chimney is located to the left of centre and just in front of the ridge.

The exterior has a black painted projecting plinth and a plat band at the first floor level. On the road front, there are three sash windows with glazing bars and architrave frames on the first floor, and similar windows on the ground floor, but with segmental brick arch heads. There are two entrance doors with four panels each, the top panels being glazed, situated between the first and second, and the second and third ground floor windows, both of which have small flat hoods. Additionally, there is a semi-circular brick arched delivery loading chute to the cellar on the left side.

Inside, most of the timber frame is exposed on the first floor, showcasing jowled posts and wind braces.
