Description

Hill House is an 18th-century house with alterations from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with a moulded brick cornice string and has a hipped roof covered in old tiles, featuring leaf ridges. The roof is edged with a stone coping and a parapet. The north front is dominated by a main block of three bays, with a prominent half-octagon projection in the centre. The cornice extends around this projection, and there was originally a stone blocking course with finials at the corners on the angled faces, though only one finial remains now. Two narrow windows are located in the upper angles of the projection. The ground floor has one window on each side, and the entrance is set back and flanked by Doric columns on brick plinths at the corners. The entrance door is a six-panelled door, with an arched, radiating, and wreathed wrought iron and cast lead fanlight. It is set within a wood doorcase with panelled reveals, pilasters, a broken entablature, and an open pediment.
