Description
This building on Victoria Street dates to approximately 1820-30 and has a stucco facade with a slightly asymmetrical design. It is two storeys high and features prominent giant pilasters with finely detailed Ionic capitals set in from the corners. The ground floor has grooved rustication, while a sill band runs in line with the pilasters. A frieze, string, projecting cornice, and blocking course adorn the upper levels. The first-floor windows are set within architraves that blend into the sill band; the central window is narrower and blind. The windows are fitted with recessed glazing bars, with two-paned sashes on the ground floor. The round-headed doorway is recessed and features a keystone. The door itself is constructed of two moulded panels and two flush panels, with a moulded doorhead and a semi-circular fanlight displaying a radial-swag pattern. It forms part of a group of buildings numbered 17 to 45 (odd numbers) along Victoria Street.
