Description
The Coach House is a two-storey gabled coachman's house built around 1860-1870, located at Bachelor's Acre. It features a mix of red and stock brick in its polychrome design. The gable is adorned with bargeboarding, and the first floor has three grouped round-headed windows. Brick bands and strings enhance the building's appearance. A semi-circular arched carriageway is situated on the ground floor. At the rear, a right-angle flight of steps leads up to a first-floor gabled porch above the carriage arch. The east side showcases jettered timber framing on the first floor, while the ground floor includes fluted pilasters and a wood trellis arcade with shaped brackets. There are two round-headed windows on the first floor, and between them is an ashlar chimney breast decorated with stucco plaques featuring putti engaged in rural labours. This coach house complex was associated with No 7 High Street.
