Description
No 8 High Street is a late 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall. It features brick strings that are four courses deep at the first-floor level and two courses deep at the first-floor cill level, all stepped under a parapet with stone coping. The upper part of the building has three windows, while the ground floor has two windows without glazing bars. To the right, there is an eight-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. The fanlight consists of three squares with an outer quatrefoil pattern and a plain center, all set in a panelled reveal with an architrave surround. The narrow outer framing is supported by carved console brackets, with a frieze and cornice above. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 4 (consecutive), 4a, 5 to 9 (consecutive), 9A, 10 to 26 (consecutive), the Dairy Pavilion in the garden of No 7, and Mistress Pages House.
