Description
Nos 4A and 5 on High Street are mid-18th century buildings that have been altered and largely refronted in the 19th century. They are three storeys tall and constructed of red brick. The five-bay front features upper floors defined by stucco panelled pilasters, an entablature, and a brick parapet with stucco piers and moulded coping. The roof is covered with old tiles. The windows have architrave surrounds and are eared on the first floor, with three grouped to the left and two to the right, separated by a narrow blank space that includes a lead rainwater head and downpipe. The ground floor has modern shop fronts and a house door. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 4, 4A, 5 to 9, 9A, and 10 to 26, as well as the Dairy Pavilion in the garden of No 7 and Mistress Pages House.
