Description
The Jubilee Obelisk is a Grade II listed Portland stone obelisk situated on a corniced plinth, erected on 19 May 1810. The inscriptions on the obelisk have been renewed.
One plaque commemorates the Grand National Jubilee celebrated on 25 October 1809, noting that the Bachelors of Windsor expressed their gratitude to Her Majesty Queen Charlotte and her family for attending a celebration that included the roasting of an ox, a gift from R O Fenwick Esq of the Royal Horse Guards Blue, along with plum puddings provided by the Bachelors, which were shared with the joyful populace.
The second plaque marks the Jubilee event celebrating HM King George III's 50th year of reign, stating that the obelisk was erected by the Bachelors of Windsor as a tribute to the esteem he has consistently shown for their town.
