Description

17 Sheet Street is a late 18th-century building of two storeys, constructed in brick with a parapet and stone coping, and covered by a hipped slate roof. The front has three windows with architraved frames and segmental heads on the first floor, and two similar windows on the ground floor. To the right of the ground floor windows is a six-panelled door, featuring a cast iron wreath knocker and a rectangular fanlight with a curved diamond glazing pattern. The doorcase is characterised by fluted Doric pilasters and a broken entablature, with a projecting cornice forming a flat hood. A modern, one-bay extension in the same design has been added to the left; it features one window on the first floor and a flush six-panelled door with a three-paned rectangular fanlight on the ground floor. The building is designated as having group value with the adjacent property at 19.
