Description
Nos 43 and 45 Victoria Street are a pair of three-storey buildings dating from around 1840 to 1850. They are constructed of painted brick and feature a coved cornice with modillion brackets on No 45, as well as a rendered blocking course. There is a sill band at the first floor level. Each upper floor has two windows set in moulded stucco architraves, with glazing bar sashes.
The shop fronts are contemporary, with No 43 having a smaller front that includes a three-light thin mullioned window and a flush panelled and glazed door within a thin pilaster frame. The house door features four flush panels and is surrounded by an architrave with a rectangular fanlight above. No 45 boasts a full-width pilastered shop front, also with a three-light thin mullioned window and a glazed house door, framed by pilasters that have incurving ends leading to the fascia and a projecting cornice. These buildings are included for their group interest, as they form part of a cohesive row from Nos 17 to 45 (odd).
