Description
No 18 Thames Street is a building dating from around 1730 to 1740, featuring three storeys and an attic. It is constructed of vitreous brick with red brick dressings. The first floor has a moulded red brick sill course, and the second floor is adorned with a similar deep architrave. A moulded dentil cornice made of red brick runs along the top, leading to a brick parapet with stone coping. The roof is covered with old tiles and is hipped to the right, featuring one hipped roof dormer. The upper floors have four segmental-headed windows, each with fluted brick keystones. The ground floor has a plain pilastered mid-19th century shop front that includes a frieze and cornice. To the right, there is a six-panel house door set in an architrave case with console brackets, a cornice, and a pediment. This building is part of an important group that includes No 2 Thames Street, Knights Tavern, Nos 5 to 16 Thames Street, and Nos 18 to 25 Thames Street.
