Description

This is a circa 1740-50 building, or possibly from the early 18th century, located on Thames Street. It is a three-storey structure built of red brick, with a second-floor string course. The building features a moulded wooden cornice and a brick parapet, likely added later as it now obscures hipped roof dormers; the parapet is finished with stone coping. There are five segmental arched windows to the upper floor, with one panel included in the design. A plain, pilastered shop front fronts the building, and a six-panel door provides entrance. The building forms part of an important group with Nos 5 to 16 and Nos 18 to 25 Thames Street, and is associated with the Knights Tavern.
