Description
STANFORD DINGLEY BUSHNELLS LANE (south side) SU 57 SE 6/48 Roman Way GV II House. Circa 1500 and Circa 1600 with C20 alterations and additions. Timber framed with curved braces and brick nogging. Old tile roof with large ridge stack off-centre to left; large tile hung gabled dormers, one to north and one to south, with canted diamond leaded oriel windows supported on central shaped brackets. Gabled cross wing to right with queen post truss exposed in gable end, tile hung gable end to rear, thatched roof with catslide over C20 lean-to and stack to right. Former open hall of 2 cruck framed bays with later 3 bay cross wing to right. One storey and attic to left with 2 storey cross wing. 2 ground floor C20 leaded casements to left, first floor C20 leaded casement in cross wing to right and C20 recessed porch below with arch braces flanked by small leaded casements and with C20 boarded door behind. Later one storey lean-to to left with C17 boarded and studded door. Interior: one cruck bay survives to left. Ground floor room to left has Circa 1600 inserted floor and fireplace and C16 and C19 linenfold panelling. Ground floor room to right at rear contains some C17 Flemish glass.
