Description
The Old House is a house dating from around 1500, with alterations made around 1600, later raised eaves, 19th-century additions at the rear, and some 20th-century re-facing. It is timber framed with square panels, angle braces, and painted brick nogging, along with partial painted brick re-facing and a 20th-century tile roof. The building is arranged in an L-plan, likely featuring a former open hall consisting of three long and one short framed bays, with a projecting two framed bay gabled cross-wing to the left.
On the west front, there is an end stack to the left, an end stack at the rear of the cross-wing, and a ridge stack that is off-centre to the right. A large gabled semi-dormer is positioned off-centre to the right, featuring a large 12-light 20th-century diamond leaded oriel window, a moulded bressumer above with end brackets, and a queen post truss with curved v-struts in the gable end. The ground floor has two 20th-century casements, a five-light to the left and a three-light to the right. The cross-wing has one three-light 20th-century diamond leaded casement on each floor, along with an exposed queen post truss with v-struts in the gable end above. The entrance is located at the rear.
