Description

Two barns, dating from the 18th century, stand approximately 35 metres east of Westridge Manor Farmhouse. The barn to the south is constructed of flint with brick dressings, incorporating lacing courses and an internal chalk facing. It has an old tile roof, with a catslide (a sloping roofline) above a 19th-century weatherboarded lean-to extending west from the two northern bays. A large, hipped weatherboarded cart shed projects to the north-east, along with hipped wagon entrances extending east and west. A weathervane is situated on the gable end to the south. The barn has four bays, featuring opposed, blocked wagon entrances on the east and west sides. It contains blocked wall slits (small vertical openings) and two large, 20th-century sliding doors to the south.

The barn to the north is also of flint construction with brick dressings and an old tile roof with a catslide over a 19th-century lean-to to the west. It also has projecting hipped wagon entrances to the east and west. It comprises five bays with an aisle on the eastern side, and a central pair of opposed wagon entrances, the eastern one being blocked. The barns are included on the list for their group value.
