Description

Dumworth Farm House is a farm house that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, with render on the south side of the central block, and features tiled roofs. The layout is roughly L-shaped, with a central 16th-century block running east to west, a 19th-century flat-roofed extension across the north side, and a 16th-century crosswing that was reworked in the 19th century, which has a 20th-century extension to the south. There is also a 19th-century extension at the eastern end of the central block, linked by a 20th-century block to a former 18th-century brew house to the south.

The main blocks are two storeys high, while the south blocks are one and a half storeys. The east side features three hipped 20th-century dormers, and there are two hipped 20th-century dormers on the west side of the south block. The chimneys include an end chimney to the south of the south block, a ridge chimney to the east of the central block, and a chimney on the north slope of the west block.

On the east elevation, the left side has a low block with two three-light casements with cambered heads and two 20th-century dormers. The center features a 20th-century link block, while the right side has a taller 19th-century block with three glazing bar sashes, the ground floor sashes having marginal glazing. There is a half-glazed 20th-century door under a flat hood in the link block.

The south elevation shows a 20th-century extension on the left with a two-light casement above a French casement. The center has the rendered 16th-century block with irregular casements, two two-light 19th-century casements on the first floor, and two-light and three-light 20th-century casements on the ground floor, along with a 20th-century extension at the junction with the right-hand block. The right side features a lower block with a one-storey tiled roof extension and two casements on the first floor.
