Description

The vaults and remains adjoining Nos 4 and 5 in St Michael's Square are from the 12th century and are part of a medieval merchant's house. The rubble wall stands about 15 feet high. Although the vault has been filled in, it dates back to the 12th century and features a later fireplace in the west wall. The east wall contains an opening from the late 13th century.
