Description
Numbers 187 and 189 on Kings Road are a pair of three-storey houses with a basement, built after 1832 as part of Waterloo Place. They are constructed from Bath stone and topped with a slate roof. The ground floor features rusticated stonework, while there is a moulded string course at the first floor level. The houses have a dentil cornice entablature and a blocking course, presenting a symmetrical appearance. The ground and first floors retain most of their original glazing bar sash windows. The first-floor windows are surrounded by architraves and have moulded cornices supported by console brackets. On the ground floor, there are two windows with contemporary balconies and cast-iron balustrades featuring a honeysuckle pattern. Each house has a six-panel door, partially glazed, located under Doric porches, which are accessed by steps. To the right of No 189, there is a two-storey extension with one window. The service houses on Orts Road, which were contemporary to these buildings, have been demolished recently in 1977.
