Description
No. 23 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices and dates from the late 18th century. It features grey brick headers with red brick dressings and has a concealed roof. There are brick stacks on the left and a rendered stack on the right. The building has three storeys and four bays.
On the right side, there is a 9-panelled door, with the top three panels glazed, surrounded by panelled reveals and soffit, an architrave, and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. To the left, there are three sashes, and on the first floor, there are four 12-pane sashes, all set under cambered gauged brick arches with keystones. The second floor has four 12-pane sashes with their heads directly below the eaves board.
At the rear, the building is similar but has two blind bays on the left and features a flat roof at the first floor level with five escape stairs. The left return is constructed in Flemish bond and has one 12-pane window on the first floor, with a blind window below it. There is a battered stone plinth at ground level and two iron ties at the first floor level. The interior has not been inspected.
