Description
19 Wolverton Road is a two-storey Victorian vernacular building, dated 1883 by Swinfen Harris. It features a long, low red brick structure with extensive rear quarters, a tiled roof with a crested ridge, and brick chimneys. The ground floor has stone heads above the windows, while the first floor showcases half-timbered gables. The left bay projects forward and includes a jettied gable adorned with a bargeboard, blind tracery on studs, and the date inscribed on the bressumer. This gable is partly tile-hung and has a two-storey, four-light bay beneath it. The building displays a variety of dormers and sash windows with glazing bars in the top sash, along with a continuous moulded string at sill level. To the left, there is a five-panel door with a depressed arch above it, and a central glazed door flanked by pairs of windows. To the right, a wide entrance leads to the rear courtyard and stables, followed by a turret with a tiled roof and a single-storey extension featuring a foiled gablet. A wrought iron finial crowns the square bay on the south-west front, which is covered with wisteria.
