Description
Nos 22, 24, and 24A High Street is a 17th-century, two-storey house that has been altered. The building features three windows on the first floor and has a machine-tiled roof with two dormers. A ridge chimney is positioned to the right of the centre. The front is plastered, with some timber exposed in the brick gable on the south-east side. The sash windows include No 22, which retains its 18th-century glazing bars. No 24 has a recent shop window to the left, which is No 24A. The entrance is adorned with Ionic pilasters, and the entablature features a tall frieze. The rear of the building is stone-built and includes a contemporary timber-framed gabled extension on the north-west side. The back door has six fielded panels. Inside, there is a bricked-up inglenook in the front room. The Public Hall and Nos 2 to 24 (even), 24A, 26, and 28 form a group, with Nos 14, 16, and 20 being of local interest.
