Description
No. 27 High Street is a small two-storey house dating from the late 17th century, featuring a very steeply pitched roof covered with early tiles. The front is made of 18th-century brick and has three flush-framed glazing bar sash windows in wide moulded wooden cases on the first floor, along with a Sun Fire Insurance blink. There is a moulded wooden eaves cornice and one hipped dormer with casement windows. Decorative lions masks are present on the gutter, and no chimney is visible from the street. The ground floor has been altered with modern shops. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 23 to 49 (odd) High Street, with Nos. 29 to 37 (odd) being of local interest only.
