Description
No. 38 High Street is a three-storey house built in the 18th century, featuring a diapered brick design that has been painted and cement rendered on the first and second floors. The building has three windows and a late slate roof with an eaves cornice and verges. The ground floor includes a late 19th-century shop with two colonettes flanking the entrance. The windows are sash style in plain wooden cases, with raised keys and plain cills. There is a blind window in the center of the second floor, and the first-floor windows have late glazing. The entrance is located at the north end, featuring a wooden architrave and a panelled door with a rectangular light above. Nos. 36 to 58 (even) High Street form a group, with Nos. 54 and 56 being of local interest.
