Description
No. 15 Prospect Row is a house built around 1740, showcasing a mid-Georgian style. Constructed of Flemish bond brick, the roof is not visible. The building has three storeys and a basement, featuring a four-window range. The front has a parapet with a thin brick cornice and segmental-arched openings made of rubbed brick. The doorway, located slightly to the left of center, is framed by cast-iron posts supporting a flat canopy with a thin modillion cornice and antae. The round-arched doorway includes a plate-glass fanlight and a half-glazed door from the early 20th century. The windows are hornless 6/6-pane sashes in exposed, flush frames, with blind windows in the second and fourth bays from the left on the second floor. Inside, there is a wainscotted through passage divided by an elliptical arch, leading to a dogleg lateral stair. This house is notable for its use of Flemish bond brick, contrasting with the English-bonded No. 14 nearby. Prospect Row was started around 1705 and completed by 1756, forming part of a varied terrace of early to mid-Georgian houses.
