Description

A pair of houses dating from the early to mid-18th century, located in Prospect Row, Brompton. The front is roughcast over brick, with a tiled roof and lateral stacks behind the ridge. The houses are each three storeys high with a basement, and have a two-window frontage. A parapeted front features a thin brick cornice. Number 17 has a plain surround, a C20 bracketed pediment above a radial fanlight, and a six-panel door (which is also the entrance to number 16). Number 18 has iron posts supporting a flat canopy and an overlight above a six-panel door. The flat-headed windows have flush, exposed frames. Number 17 windows are mostly 2/2-pane, while number 18 windows are 6/6-pane on the ground and second floors, and the second-floor window is 3/6-pane. There are blind windows above the doorway to number 18, and a similar space above the doorway to number 17. The interior was not inspected. Prospect Row was begun around 1705, and completed by 1756, and forms part of a varied terrace of early to mid-Georgian houses.
