Description

No. 32 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with accommodation above. It features 18th-century remodelling of an earlier structure. The building is positioned end-on to the street and has lateral stairs. It is weatherboarded on a timber frame and has a hipped Kent clay tile roof that slopes towards the street. The building has three storeys and a three-window range. The late 19th-century shop front includes two fluted pilasters. The first floor has 12-pane horned sash windows, while the second floor has 9-pane hornless sash windows. There is a dentilled eaves cornice. Inside, there is a fragment of a 17th-century turned baluster staircase that leads from the first to the second floor. One arch brace truss is visible in the roof.
