Description
Salisbury Villa is an early 19th-century house, potentially incorporating earlier fabric, located on Epau Street, Rochester. It is a building of group value. The house is weatherboarded throughout, with lead roofs. It comprises a main front range and a rear range which runs roughly parallel to the front, though its alignment suggests construction in a different building phase. Internal brick end stacks serve both ranges.
The front of the house is three storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window facade. It features 12-pane horned sash windows throughout, with slightly projecting surrounds; only two windows are present on the first floor. The central doorway has a panelled surround and a canopy supported by shaped brackets. The door itself has raised panels. The rear range is jettied to the east and has two sash windows to the upper floor and two casements to the first floor. A glazed porch and a casement are present on the ground floor.
A low brick wall with a stone plinth, recessed panels, and coping curves outwards on either side of the central doorway, and is included in the listing.
