Description
Longley House is an early 19th-century house situated in Rochester, Bole Hill. It is constructed of painted brick with a roof not visible from street level. The southeast angle of the house abuts the front of Satis House. The building is two storeys high with a high basement. It has an asymmetrical, three-window front, with a single-window range to the right, the first floor of which is set back. A parapet tops the facade. The first floor features twelve-pane hornless sash windows in reveals, set beneath depressed brick arches. A left-handed doorcase, approached by steps with plan railings, has a wide entablature supported by three Ruscan pilasters, sheltering a double door and a sash window. A tripartite hornless sash window (4:12:4 panes) is positioned to the right, with another (2:4:2 panes) to the basement. The single-window range to the right has four-pane sashes. A large brick ridge stack is visible. Blocked windows are present on the right return. The rear elevation features a canted bay with a parapet and sash windows. A large veranda is located on the left. The interior was not inspected.
