Description
This stretch of precinct wall is part of the Diocesan Registry and runs along the east side of Boley Hill, starting just southwest of the Diocesan Registry and extending to include The King's School Craft Centre. The wall marks the boundary of the cathedral precinct that was originally occupied by the Bishops' Palace. It is partly medieval but has seen much renewal over the years. The wall is constructed from random rubble ragstone and clunch, with its height varying between 3.5 to 7 meters. There are four later gateways that have been created in the wall. At the southern end, the wall returns to form the outer and lower courses of a late 19th-century two-storey craft workshop.
