Description

2. All one large classical villa of buff brick, c. 1850 still in its original woodland setting up a steep drive off a main street. Entrance front (west) 5 windows wide, 2 storeys. Big stone porch, Tuscan columns and antae supporting entablature and balustrade, subsidiary entrance (Salisbury House) inserted later, with stucco pilasters and entablature. Eaves cornice of console brackets, hipped roof, triple chimneystacks connected by narrow arches. Garden front (south) symmetrical, with 2 canted bays onto a long verandah of slim iron uprights, conservatory at east end.
