Description

The house at the rear of No 321 High Street in Rochester is a former residential building dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with painted pebbledash render and features Kent tile and Welsh slate roofs. The building has a double pile plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic. The front facade has a five-window range, with two ground floor and five first floor 12-pane sash windows set under flat window arches. There are 20th century additions at the ground floor, including a part-glazed porch. The exterior is adorned with a cut and moulded brick cornice and a stone-coped parapet. There are two chimney stacks, one located in the valley between the roofs and the other at the rear. The interior, which was partially inspected, includes a good dentil cornice in the right-hand room and some minor early 19th century joinery in another ground-floor room. At the time of the re-survey in 1989, the building was noted to be derelict.
