Description

This is a row of four early 19th-century houses with original shops at ground floor level, situated on Rochester High Street. The front of the buildings are painted brick, while the roofs are a mix of Kent tiles (on No. 329), Welsh slate (on No. 331), and concrete pantiles (on Nos. 333 and 335). The houses have a single-room depth, with three storeys to the main front range and two storeys to the rear wings, except for No. 335, which has been raised. The front has a seven-window arrangement, with alternate windows blocked on the upper floors. There is a parapet with a stone coping and a cornice band. All windows are 12-pane sashes in reveals, except for a late 20th-century top-opening casement on the second floor of No. 329. The four ground-floor shop fronts feature angle-fluted pilasters with decorative features at the tops, friezes with curved profiles, and projecting cornices, although these are partially hidden by the modern shop fascias.
