Description

ST JOHN'S ROAD 1. 1445 (East Side) SZ 4988 NE 6/311 Nos 19 to 31 (odd)

  1. Early C19 terrace, the centre and end houses projecting, of 3 storeys, the intervening ones of 2 storeys, chequered brick with red brick dressings. Nos 19 and 21 have gables with bargeboards, finial missing on No 31. No 25, in centre, has hipped gable with bargeboards. Gable end slate roofs to intervening houses, with wood eaves cornice. One window each, recessed, sash, glazing bars intact, except on Nos 21, 29 and part of 31, block sills, flat brick arches. Nos 19, 25 and 31 have flat fronted bow windows of 3 lights on 1st floor, with glazing bars, Doric pilasters, frieze and cornice break forward to centre, plain aprons. Entrances paired on Nos 21, 25 and 27, 29. All doors are recessed, some still retain panelling, semi circular fanlights, rubbed brick arches on wood imposts.
