Description

Fuchsia Cottage, at number 3 Market Street, dates from the 16th century and was originally part of Old Ryde Farm, situated adjacent to number 11 Spencer Road. The cottage is two storeys high and has rendered walls. It is topped by a low-pitched slate roof with an eaves cornice. The front has two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor; these are recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars and block sills. Venetian shutters are fitted to the first-floor windows. A recessed panelled front door is flanked by a pilaster with a bracketed flat hood. The north front mirrors the south, with two windows on each floor. The cottage forms a group with numbers 7 to 11 (odd) Spencer Road.
