Description
Number 16 and The Cottage, also known as Wyke Place, is a house that has been divided into two properties. It dates from the late 16th century, with a 17th-century addition at the rear. The building features a timber frame, with square panels at the back supported by straight braces and red brick nogging, while the front is rendered. It has an old tiled roof and consists of three framed bays with a gable at the front. The house is two storeys high and has a jettied gable at the front, which is likely supported by 19th-century scrolled brackets. There is a small name shield in the gable end, a large chimney stack off the ridge to the left, and an end stack at the rear. The first floor has a three-light 19th-century casement window, and the ground floor features another three-light 19th-century casement window, along with a 20th-century panelled door to the left.
