Description
No. 24 Broadway is a house that now serves as both a residence and a shop. It dates from the 17th century, with some partial re-facing and an addition from the 18th century. The building features a timber frame with a painted brick facing and a rendered gable end on the right, where part of the truss is exposed. The roof is covered with old tiles.
The structure consists of two framed bays and has two storeys. It has a dentil brick eaves cornice, a parapeted gable end on the right, and end stacks. On the first floor, there is an early 19th-century glazing bar sash window on the left with a flush box. The ground floor features a canted bay window with a hipped roof on the left and a central four-panelled door with a lean-to porch.
To the right, there is an 18th-century addition that projects out, which has a parapet and a concave lozenge window in the gable end on the left. The first floor of this addition includes three two-light segmental headed casements. The 19th-century shopfront consists of two plate glass windows flanking a central glazed door. Additionally, there are 19th-century arrowhead railings adjoining the left side of the property. Inside, the building features collar trusses.
