Description
The Wheatsheaf Public House is a public house dating from the 17th century, with 19th century re-facing and additions. It features a timber frame with white painted brick re-facing and additions, topped by an old tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout that includes two framed bays and a framed bay wing at the rear.
It stands one and a half storeys high and has a plinth, three gabled eaves dormers with two-light casements, and two ridge stacks that are off-centre to the left and right. The ground floor has four bay windows; two are 19th century and canted with three-pane sashes in the centre, while the two outer windows are 20th century, with the left being canted with small-paned casements and the right bowing with small-paned glazing. The central entrance features a four-panelled door with a 20th century glazed porch, a half-glazed door to the left with a bracketed segmental hood, and a 20th century glazed door to the right.
Inside, there are substantial remains of three timber framed bays.
