Description

Althorp House is a circa 1840s/1850s building of three storeys, constructed with stone that has been cut to imitate brickwork. It features a slightly projecting central bay with rusticated quoins. A string course and plinth run along the facade. The low-pitched slate roof has wide eaves. There are three windows on each floor; the second floor windows are square and recessed, with sash glazing bars. They are set within rusticated surrounds and have keystones and console-supported sills. The central recessed doorway has panelled and glazed upper sections, and a rectangular fanlight above. It is flanked by engaged Doric columns and pilasters supporting an entablature. A hood supported by wooden columns has been added to the doorway.
