Description

Regency House is a circa 1830 building of three storeys, constructed with rendered brick, a plinth, and a basement. It has a low-pitched gable end slate roof, where the eaves are concealed by a cornice and blocking course. The building originally had three windows, though the first and second floors feature slightly recessed panels, creating a pilaster effect and narrow central sections. The windows are recessed sash windows, retaining their original glazing bars and block sills. An enclosed porch with round-headed windows on either side, one of which is blind, provides access to recessed double-glazed and panelled doors, which are topped by a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars within an architrave surround. Flanking pilasters of the Doric order and quarter pilasters extend from the wall to the frieze and cornice. A later wooden box bay window has been added above the first floor. Side windows have fixed panes with glazing bars, with panelling above and to the sides. The front features a sash window with glazing bars, a moulded frame, and flanking panelled pilasters with panelled aprons. The north front has been modernised, though it retains a shallow bow and part of a first-floor cast iron balcony.
