Description
Ryde Court is a terrace of four houses built in 1850. The houses are stuccoed with a hipped slate roof and two stuccoed chimney stacks. The north front has a slight projection in the central four bays. The facades are divided by bands between the floors, and there is a plinth. The third floor has eight projecting twelve-pane sashes, topped by gables with finials. The second floor has twelve-pane sashes in a moulded architrave, while the first floor has tripartite sashes with cornices, curved pediments, and brackets to the central window. The ground floor has plain tripartite sashes. The south front has four nine-pane semi-dormers to the third floor, four six-pane sashes, and twelve-pane sashes to the second floor. The first floor windows are eighteen-pane sashes, and the ground floor has tripartite sashes. The recessed doorcases are simple. The terrace was originally named Sydney Terrace, after Sydney House which previously stood on the site.
