Description

The garden building located to the southeast of Woodlands Vale is a summer house from the later 19th century. It features a rectangular shape with a base made of stock brick laid in Flemish bond. The upper part is timber-framed, showcasing ogee arches and plastered infill panels at the rear, along with four Jacobean style panels at the open front. The roof is hipped and currently covered in roofing felt, adorned with copper finials. Inside, there are wooden seats. This building was designed to provide a view across a valley and is possibly attributed to S S Teulon, who created several garden structures for Lord Calthorpe, although its style may suggest a later date. It remains an intact example of a later 19th-century summer house and is part of a collection of notable garden structures at Woodlands Vale.
