Description
Puckpool Lodge, built around 1830, is located on the seashore as part of the Puckpool House estate on Puckpool Road. Designed in a rustic cottage style similar to the main house, it features an asymmetrical cross plan and is constructed of yellow brick and coursed rubble, partly covered with cement render. The west wing has a four-sided end with a slate roof that is hipped and topped with a finial. There are off-centre cross gables facing north and south, with a jettied first floor supported by a timber frame. The building includes ornamental bargeboards and finials, as well as a gabled dormer on the south side. The eaves above the first-floor window at the west end rise in an eyebrow shape. A central brick stack with grouped diagonal and square capped shafts is located above the cross gable ridge, with similar paired shafts on the eastern stack. The casement windows have two and three lights with glazing bars. The south side of the west wing features a gabled porch supported by rustic wood columns and brackets, topped with a ball and spike finial.
