Description
Marvel Lodge is a cottage built in the late 19th century or early 20th century, constructed from red brick and showing possible influences from William Morris and Philip Webb. It has a gable end slate roof with a diamond cut brick eaves cornice. The west front facing the road features two windows on the ground floor, which are two-light casements with camber heads. Above these windows are inset grey brick pointed arches, with the bricks arranged in a herringbone pattern in the tympanum. There is a gabled wing to the east that has one casement window on both floors. The entrance is located to the south, featuring a recessed plain cottage door set back in a porch with a pointed arch and a square turret above, topped with a pyramid slate roof and an oeuil-de-boeuf window on the first floor. The porch and turret are positioned at the angle between the east wing and the main block.
