Description
Standen House is a house built around 1750 for the Roberts family, with an 18th-century addition at the north end. The front is made of red brick, while the rear is constructed of ashlar. It features a tiled roof with a brick chimney stack at each end. The house has two storeys and attics, with a total of seven windows and two parallel ranges. A parapet conceals three flat-roofed dormers, and there is a stringcourse running along the building. The windows are 12-pane sash windows. The central doorcase is located at the top of six steps and is flanked by engaged Doric columns, with a triglyph frieze and a projecting cornice above. The door itself consists of six fielded panels. A fine contemporary staircase is noted, but access to it is not permitted.
