Description
Nos 85 and 86 on St James's Street are two-storey buildings with a late 18th-century front that likely covers an earlier structure. They are constructed of red brick and feature a gable end roof with old tiles, while the eaves are concealed by a parapet with stone coping. The façade includes an inlaid grey header cornice, a band between the storeys, and a dividing line. There is a plinth, two dormers, and two sash windows with moulded flush wood frames and thin block sills. The ground floor of No 85 has a late 19th-century shop front framed by thin Doric pilasters and a fascia board. No 86 has one window similar to No 85 and a recessed door with six fielded panels, panelled reveals, and soffit, along with a wood case featuring thin panelled pilaster strips and a bracketed hood.
