Description
This is an early 19th-century building on Chapel Street. It is constructed of grey headers with red brick dressings, and has a gable-end slate roof. The east front has three windows, with the southern bay belonging to number 40. The windows are recessed, have sash glazing bars, block sills, and flat, rubbed brick arches. Number 41 has a recessed entrance with a three-panelled door, a rectangular fanlight, a moulded wood doorcase with moulded roundel corner blocks, and a bracketed cornice hood. The south front of number 40 has one window, with a modern door but retaining a narrow rectangular fanlight, moulded case, and bracketed hood. The corner of number 40 is rounded on the ground floor, but stepped up to a right angle on the first floor.
