Description

This is a monument to Edward Edwards, located approximately 10 meters south of the Churchyard Cross at St John the Baptist in Niton and Whitwell. The monument, which dates to around 1902, features a granite square plinth and an urn. The plinth is inscribed with the words "FINIS NON FINIS." Edward Edwards was a notable figure in literature and one of the founders of municipal public libraries, alongside William Ewart and Joseph Brotherton. The monument was erected by Thomas Greenwood.
