GV II

Terraced houses, now flats, early C19. Shops, added in c1840. Stucco. Roof obscured by blocking course. 3 storeys over basement. 4-window range across the block which may have been built as a pair of houses and are parallel to Nile Street to the north; the single storey shop fronts are built along a different axis following the line of the street. The tall block will be described as one unit. First-floor, floor-to-ceiling windows with sashes of an original 6 x 9 design. The windows in the right-hand range are blocked as is the second-floor window in the second-window range. Storey band between the first and second floors. Projecting cornice continuous across the top of block. Single-storey shop fronts originally framed by Tuscan pilasters. These have been much damaged, that to No.21A being the most intact. INTERIOR: not inspected. The range forms a group with Nos 2-8 Prince Albert Street (qv).
