Description
10 Prince Albert Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 18th century and was restored in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and gauged, with a mix of darker and lighter red brick on the ground floor. It has a two-span roof covered with tiles, both sections being hipped.
The exterior features three storeys and a curved front with three windows. The central entrance has a flat arch and is topped with an overlight that includes decorative glazing bars. This entrance is framed by an aedicule made up of fluted Tuscan pilasters and an entablature with a dentil cornice and modillions, along with a segmental pediment that has a raking cornice of the same design. The inner doorcase has panelled jambs and soffits.
All windows are camber arched with gauged brick lintels. The ground floor windows have sashes and frames that are nearly flush with the wall, while the upper windows have deep reveals. On either side of the entrance, there are two windows, all featuring an original 8/8 sash design, although many may have been recently made. The ground floor has pale red-brick dressings on the party walls, window dressings, and a dado range that nearly reaches the window sills, with the spaces in between filled with dark red brick in header bond. There is a storey band of two bricks' thickness between the ground and first floors, and three bricks' thickness between the first and second floors. The second floor has a brick entablature with a brick dentil cornice. There are stacks on the party wall. The interior of the ground floor has been significantly altered and retains few original features.
