Description
This is a lamp post located at the corner of St Luke's Road and St Luke's Terrace in Brighton. It dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century and is made of cast iron and another metal. The lamp post features a square base with broached corners and a lockable compartment in the base that is labelled "Hardy and Padmore LTD, Makers, Worcester." The shaft is fluted and tapers upwards, equipped with a maintenance yoke. It has a bell-shaped capital and a swan-necked, tubular bracket that is supported by a metal fillet designed to resemble a tendril. The lamp also includes a shallow dish reflector.
