Description
St Luke's Pool is a municipal swimming pool built between 1900 and 1903 by Thomas Simpson. It is constructed of stock brick and red brick, with stone dressings, and features a roof that is partly slate and partly glazed. The building showcases an Arts and Crafts Free-Style design and is part of a complex that includes St Luke's School, the caretaker's house, and railings. The gable has an elaborate central oculus adorned with swags below and an entablature that includes three paired casements. There are two stone bands present. The entrance, located to the left, features a cambered arch and a plinth. The side elevation consists of six bays with red brick piers and a cambered blank arch. The left side of the building has a one-storey wing that contains four sash windows and a metal and wooden cupola.
